…aka the Wuhan Flu aka Coronavirus

Shortly after New Year’s of 2020, I stumbled upon some horrifying videos coming out of the Wuhan Provence in China. It seemed that a virus had broken out and the effects on that Provence were so dire that the CCP stepped in and quarantined the entire area, going so far as to barricade families into their homes. The videos ran counter to what the CCP was telling the world. This looked serious.

As viruses tend to do, this one spread (though quite oddly, not to other parts of China) and by January 20th, 2020, the United States had her first diagnosed case. On January 30, WHO declared a global public health emergency and the next day President Trump banned foreign nationals from entering the U.S. if they had been to Wuhan in the prior couple of weeks. His response was extremely fast and the media and left jumped on him with both feet for being “racist” and “alarmist”.

Things devolved from that point and America suffered her first death from Covid-19 in CA on February 6th. An acquaintance of mine, a nursing home director, reported that her facility as well as two others in WA state had been severely compromised out of the blue with the virus. There was no direct line of contact between patient zero and the nursing homes; however, genome tracing indicated he was the source.

On March 11, 2020 the Worldwide Health Organization declared the outbreak to be a pandemic. The same day, President Trump banned travel from 26 countries. Two days later, he declared a state of emergency in the USA.

Things the mainstream media were reporting did not add up to me. I began watching President Trump’s Press Conferences and noticed that; while he and his staff were trying to disseminate facts, the media were honing in on stupid details and focusing often on the wrong things. This made my question the media’s intent. So, I began to dig.

The most accurate and up to date scientific data regarding the current spread and mortality rate of Covid-19 may be found at Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering. Unfortunately, as my father, one of the original great programmers of his time, used to say about computer programs: “Garbage in. Garbage out.” In other words, a program’s results are only as good as the data that it is fed. Since there have been numerous articles debating the efficacy of the CDC and other health organizations’ method of collecting data, it must be recognized that the Johns Hopkins numbers are at best, an educated approximation.

According to reporting from @TheAtlantic, the CDC is counting positive antibody tests in with the rest of the positive coronavirus tests.

If true, that is certainly another reason why we have such a massive increase in positive tests compared to other countries.
